textRORA and RORC bind ROR response elements (RREs, ROREs) in the NR1D1 promoter and enhance transcription (inferred from mouse homologs). NR1D1 binds its own promoter and negatively regulates expression (Adelmant et al. 1996). Transcription of the NR1D1 gene occurs on the opposite strand of the ERBA gene (Lazar et al.1990).
In the human brain, expression of NR1D1 peaks in the early morning, before the peak of PER1 expression (Li et al. 2013) and earlier than the peak of expression of mouse Nr1d1.
