textHuman respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV) glycoprotein (G) mRNA contains two initiation codons (AUG) (Roberts et al. 1994). When translation is started from the first AUG, the resulting G protein variant of 298 amino acids possesses a transmembrane domain (Roberts et al. 1994) and initially localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum (Ding et al. 1987).
