Query author contributions in Reactome

Reactome depends on collaboration between our curation team and outside experts to assemble and peer-review its pathway modules. The integration of ORCID within Reactome enables us to meet a key challenge with authoring, curating and reviewing biological information by incentivizing and crediting the external experts that contribute their expertise and time to the Reactome curation process. More information is available at ORCID and Reactome.

If you have an ORCID ID that is not listed on this page, please forward this information to us and we will update your Reactome pathway records.

commentFUNCTION On ligand binding, forms a receptor complex consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. Can also mediate signaling through the activation of the p38MAPK cascade (PubMed:12045205). Binds to BMP7, BMP2 and, less efficiently, BMP4. Binding is weak but enhanced by the presence of type I receptors for BMPs. Mediates induction of adipogenesis by GDF6. Promotes signaling also by binding to activin A/INHBA (PubMed:24018044).CATALYTIC ACTIVITY L-threonyl-[receptor-protein] + ATP = O-phospho-L-threonyl-[receptor-protein] + ADP + H(+)CATALYTIC ACTIVITY L-seryl-[receptor-protein] + ATP = O-phospho-L-seryl-[receptor-protein] + ADP + H(+)COFACTOR Interacts with GDF5 (PubMed:21976273). Interacts with BMP4 (PubMed:29212066). Interacts with SCUBE3 (PubMed:33308444). Interacts with TSC22D1/TSC-22 (PubMed:21791611). Interacts with activin A/INHBA (PubMed:24018044).INTERACTION Highly expressed in heart and liver.DISEASE The disease is caused by variants affecting the gene represented in this entry.DISEASE The disease is caused by variants affecting the gene represented in this entry.SIMILARITY Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. TKL Ser/Thr protein kinase family. TGFB receptor subfamily.
