textDopamine receptors 1 (Dearry A et al, 1990) and 5 (Sunahara RK et al, 1991) are members of the D1-like dopamine receptor family. Once activated, they couple to the G protein alpha-s subtype which can activate adenylate cyclase. This increases the intracellular concentration of cAMP, which, in neurons, is typically excitatory.
