Cis-inhibiton of NOTCH signaling can amplify small differences in NOTCH and DLL/JAG levels between neighboring cells. These findings are based on studies conducted in Drosophila (Cordle et al. 2008) and in mammalian cell culture where human NOTCH1 and rat Dll1 were used (Sprinzak et al. 2010). |
